“True happiness… is not attained through self-gratification, but through fidelity to a worthy purpose.” – Helen Keller

To make the teaching-learning experience more joyful, a workshop was conducted for the Secondary section teachers on Saturday, January 4, 2020. The workshop focussed on giving equal focus to Physical, Mental, Emotional and Physical aspect of one’s own selves as well as the students.

Facilitator Ms Uma Patra outlined the steps to increase happiness index like balance between mental and emotional being- to increase the inner beauty, spiritual connection at work place, and focus on experiential learning. The teachers learnt that, ‘if we feel positive, we can spread positivity’.

She highlighted some of the common challenges faced by teachers while dealing with students. Role plays were conducted to help the participants deal with various situations while communicating with students. The participants learnt how to analyse the attitude and behaviour of each student and help them redirect their negativity through compassion and empathy to a positive quality.

They were also briefed on how to enhance self-respect, make education more qualitative, and bring more empathy, flexibility, openness, variety and blessings into the classroom.
