“The world is a book, and those who do not travel read only one page.” – Saint Augustine
As part of the Global Immersion Program (GIP) 2025, our SAIoneers from Classes IX to XII have embarked on an unforgettable journey to Japan, where learning extends far beyond the classroom. This immersive experience has been thoughtfully designed to expose young minds to diverse cultures, global perspectives, and real-world insights.
Day 1: Kyoto – Where Tradition Meets Technology
The journey began with great excitement as our SAIoneers arrived in Japan and boarded the Shinkansen (bullet train) to Kyoto. The seamless, high-speed travel left them amazed at Japan’s technological prowess and precision.
Their first destination was the Samurai and Ninja Museum, where they not only explored the legacy of Japan’s ancient warriors but also engaged in hands-on activities like dressing up and trying ninja star throws. It was a captivating introduction to Japanese history.
Later, they visited the breath-taking Arashiyama Bamboo Grove, where the towering bamboo and serene surroundings created a truly magical and meditative experience. The day concluded with a traditional dinner and much-needed rest, setting the stage for the adventure ahead.
Day 2: Universal Studios, Osaka – Thrill, Joy & Team Bonding
Day 2 was dedicated to exploration and fun at Universal Studios Japan, one of the world’s most iconic theme parks. Divided into 11 distinct zones, the park offered SAIoneers an exciting mix of thrill rides, shows, and themed attractions.
They began with the Hollywood Dream Roller Coaster, followed by a visit to Waterworld and the action-packed Jurassic Park ride. One of the most anticipated moments was the magical journey through the Wizarding World of Harry Potter, complete with immersive rides and enchanted settings.
A comforting Indian dinner brought a sense of home to the day’s end, and the SAIoneers returned to their hotel with hearts full of joy and shared memories.
Day 3: Hiroshima – A Day of Reflection and Reverence
Travelling from Kyoto to Hiroshima via the Shinkansen, the SAIoneers stepped into one of the most significant chapters of world history. Their visit to the Hiroshima Peace Memorial Park and Museum was deeply emotional. While they had studied the events of the atomic bombing, witnessing the Atomic Dome and seeing the thousands of folded peace cranes brought the reality closer to heart. It was a powerful reminder of the importance of peace, compassion, and resilience.
Later, the group visited the spiritual Miyajima Island and the iconic Itsukushima Shrine, with its famous torii gate rising from the sea. The island’s peaceful ambience and vibrant market culture offered a perfect conclusion to a day filled with reflection.
Day 4: From Hiroshima to Tokyo – From Reflection to Renewal
As the SAIoneers journeyed from Hiroshima to Tokyo, the transition felt symbolic, moving from solemnity to the vibrant energy of Japan’s capital.
A highlight of the day was the scenic Sumida River Cruise, which offered panoramic views of Tokyo’s skyline. Amid the urban buzz, the calm waters provided a moment of quiet introspection.
The experience culminated at the Tokyo Skytree, where SAIoneers stood 450 meters above ground, soaking in a breath-taking view of the city. It was a powerful moment, reminding them of the vastness of the world and the endless possibilities that lie ahead.
Day 5: Exploring Tokyo – A Celebration of Culture, Curiosity & Connection
Day 5 was a beautiful blend of leisure, learning, and exploration. The morning began with a hearty breakfast followed by a vibrant shopping experience in central Tokyo. From stationery and fashion to quirky souvenirs and Japanese snacks, SAIoneers enjoyed immersing themselves in the everyday culture of Japan. A surprise lunch at an Indian restaurant brought smiles and comfort, highlighting the cultural inclusivity of Japan.
The highlight of the day was a visit to a space and technology centre, where interactive exhibits on Japan’s advancements in space research sparked awe and curiosity. From satellites to launch simulations, the experience was educational and inspiring.
The day wrapped up with a second shopping excursion and a cosy dinner, ending with laughter, bonding, and shared stories among the group.
