“Education is not the filling of a pail, but the lighting of a fire.” – W.B. Yeats
The Round Square Conference 2025, hosted by Dhirubhai Ambani International School (DAIS) in Jamnagar, proved to be an unforgettable experience for the six-member student delegation from SAI International, led by teacher Ms. Yamini Rajpal. The five-day event brought together young leaders from across the globe, offering them a vibrant platform to exchange ideas, engage in dialogue, and immerse themselves in cultural and experiential learning.
Day 1: Arrival and Orientation
The delegation arrived in Jamnagar with great enthusiasm and excitement to be part of this international event. Settling into the serene environment of the Green Retreat Resort, the students began their journey of collaboration and exploration, gearing up for the sessions and activities ahead.
Day 2: Preparations and Inspiration
The day began with debriefing sessions and preparations for the much-anticipated Sustainable Innovation Showcase (SIS). Students brainstormed innovative ideas and fine-tuned their presentations, strengthening teamwork and leadership skills. At Vantara Niwas, they attended a keynote session by acclaimed filmmaker and changemaker Dr. Vibha Chhabra Bakshi, whose inspiring words encouraged them to see challenges as opportunities. The day concluded with engaging baraza discussions, where students exchanged perspectives with peers from other schools.
Day 3: Learning Through Exposure and Cultural Immersion
Students visited solar module sites and the Reliance Bio-Energy facility, gaining first-hand knowledge of renewable energy and sustainability practices. The afternoon SIS best-practice sessions saw delegates sharing ideas and solutions, while the evening brought cultural enrichment through handicraft workshops on Bandhani, bangle-making, and mirror work. A lively Garba workshop added colour and energy to the day, leaving students with lasting memories of cultural exchange.
Day 4: Conservation and Responsibility
The highlight of the fourth day was a visit to Vantara, one of India’s largest animal rescue and rehabilitation centres. Students learned about man-animal conflict, interacted with experts, and developed empathy for rescued elephants and other animals. Later, they participated in a Green Belt Walk and sapling plantation drive, reinforcing their commitment to sustainability. The day was both thought-provoking and inspiring, instilling a deeper appreciation for conservation.
Day 5: Reflections and Farewell
The concluding day began with a short baraza reflection session, where students articulated how the conference had broadened their perspectives and strengthened their values of empathy, leadership, and collaboration. A documentary on the ecological transformation of the Motikhavdi region highlighted how Reliance Industries turned an arid land into a thriving ecosystem through sustainable interventions. With hearts full of gratitude and minds enriched, the SAIoneers bid farewell to DAIS, carrying home invaluable lessons and cherished memories.
