The Interact Club Members of SAI International School met for a virtual meet with Interact Club Members of schools from countries like Brazil and Sri Lanka on Sunday, May 24, 2020. Around 40 members from various schools of the three countries had a virtual talent exchange, to forge a connect and understand each other’s culture.
While Club Members of Brazil shared their cuisine followed by a dance performance, the students of Sri Lanka exhibited their singing skills. The Members of SAI International School sang songs, played the harmonium and shared a video on climate change. They also blew a conch shell and explained its significance. The other school from India presented an Odissi dance.
Among the members present from Brazil were Rtn. Adelberto Laurenco da Silva, Interact Advisor, Rtn. Elisangela A Parecida De Grande, Counsellor, Rtn. Leandro Miguel, Assistant District Governor Dist. 4480 Brazil and Interactor Tatiana and her club members. P.H.F. P.P. Rtn. Marshad Barry Assistant Governor Rotary District 3220 Sri Lanka and Maldives and Rtn. Manik Sharma from the Rotary Club of Bhubaneswar and Interact Club President of Colombo North and Wesley College also joined.
Last week students of SAI International School were among the 100 members from the Interact Club of India, Srilanka and Mauritius who met online on Sunday, May 10, 2020. Thirty students of SAI discussed on the projects undertaken by the Club during the lockdown period.
Among the dignitaries present were PHF.P.P Rtn. Marshad Barry, Assistant Governor Rotary District 3220 Srilanka & Maldives, Rtn. Anju Ramodhin, District Officer Rotaract & Interact of Mauritius District 9220 and Rtn. Manik Sharma, Chairman Interact, Rotary Bhubaneswar.
Special guests, Rtn. Asoka Pieris, President Rotary Club of Colombo North, Rtn. Hemanth Landuge from Aurangabad, India, Incoming DRCC and Former DRR Amjaj Yusuf, Srilanka, Interact District Director Azri, Srilanka, motivated the young members with their varied experience as Rotarians.
SAIoneers presented a power point presentation on the activities undertaken by the club and proposed the plan of action for the coming session. The members committed to meet on a regular basis for future collaborative projects. This meeting was just a beginning of an endless journey as responsible citizens.
Interact is a Rotary-sponsored service club for young people in the age group of 14 to 18 years, providing them with an opportunity to develop leadership skills, apart from discovering the power of Service Above Self. The Interact Club of SAI International School was established since its inception and every year students enthusiastically join the Club. The Members take part in various social connect activities, which inspire them to become responsible citizens.
