PERSONAL ANECDOTES BY ANKIT

Ankit Sahu delivered an alumni talk for students of SAI International School on Saturday, January 30, 2021. He began his talk by sharing a popular Japanese proverb that states, “Once in a lifetime opportunity!” thus, going on to say it is important to clear mind of all doubts and make the move right on time to grab that kind of life altering opportunity, when it comes by.

He shared his own insights in the most simplistic and engaging manner to truly benefit the students. He mentioned SAI International school gave him a highly competitive environment and the events that has acted as a spring board, as reference point for all his future endeavors. The multidimensional environment of the University in Japan, with a vast global network and multicultural focal groups true helped him to discover himself. Ankit had also an interned at UN Headquarters and researched on a global labor issue with a team of 17 individuals from 13 different countries. His experience varies from working as an intern at the Nomura Securities, Japan , as an advisor to the CSO, Chikaromoto Holdings,Tokya , as an analyst and presently working as Senior Consultant with Y Combinator, Tokyo Japan.

Ankit’s industry knowledge include equity analysis, sales prediction models, supply chain modeling, advertisement promotions analysis through MA tools, digital marketing knowledge and financial reporting. Ankit’s success story includes being the coveted winner of the Business Enclave Competition 2015 where he presented the Reading Rainbow as an initiative to boost local encouragement through libraries, securing the 3rd place in Copenhagen Business Case Challenge, being the 100% scholarship (ASURAN SCHOLARSHIP) for 2 years of his studies abroad, further he secured the Japanese National Scholarship for the next 3 year.

Ankit confidently says academics is not everything, extracurricular which is not part of academics yet it results in playing a very positive learning impact. Hence, truly extracurricular teaches one a lot, just as academics does and he is glad that he has walked a path less travelled by. Internships, career building, voice training, taking up part time jobs, trying his hand at cooking in local kitchen, making new friends from different linguistic and cultural groups gave him a delightful insight into the way life. He spoke of “Delayed Gratification”- holding on to the urge and delay it for later, instead even while holding on to serious financial portfolio, he dabbed his hand at others things not just network yet to absorb the life learning he was receiving through these various forums.

Ankit also added one has to learnt from past mistakes, prioritize matters both personal and professional, apart from core studies and work, find yourselves as it also great to have more fun than you’ve ever had before. He also added one has to learnt from past mistakes, prioritize matters both personal and professional There are plenty of off-putting myths about being a finance student, but in reality it’s enjoyable, interesting and highly rewarding, especially in light of what you’re working towards. In his own words one has to be flexible in your own environment, how to respect different cultures, regions, from all walk of life.

Dr. Shilpi Sahoo, Vice Chairperson, SAI International Group recollected on how Ankit was a highly enthusiastic go-getter attitude student with a polite and a very smiling persona was back then. In fact Ankit is very humble, and carries a value centric outlook towards learning and developing himself further.

 Today that has led him to realize his dream job and life and still he has managed to retain the smiling polite self of his while doing very well in his chosen field of work.
