Utkal Divas was celebrated with much pomp and gaiety at SAI International School to commemorate the formation of Odisha as a separate province. Like every year, this year too a Special Assembly was conducted to mark the glorious occasion. It was graced by Chief Speaker Dr. Archana Nayak, eminent Odia writer and lyricist who shared the elegant art, architecture and heritage of Odisha with the SAIoneers.
She also spoke about the freedom fighters like Shri Madhusudhan Das, Shri Gopabandhu Das, Shri Radhanath Ray, Shri Fakirmohan Senapati etc.
Chairman Dr. Bijoy K Sahoo gave an insight on the sacrifices and selfless efforts of the great leaders of the state that led to the formation of Odisha on April 1, 1936. He advised the students to render their contribution in their own way towards the growth and development of the state.
SAIoneers presented a colorful cultural show of song, dance and poetry to pay their heartfelt tribute to the legendary heroes of the soil. Students also spoke about the role of the great leaders that paved path for making Odisha the first state in India to be formed on the basis of language. The students also staged a wonderful skit to extol the contribution of Shri Madhusudhan Das. It concluded with the recital of the State song ‘ Vande Utkala Janani’.
