In a momentous Opening Ceremony on July 26, 2024, at the grandeur of the Indraprastha Auditorium, His Excellency, the Hon’ble Governor of Odisha, Shri Raghubar Das, officially inaugurated the 12th edition of the SAI Model United Nations (SAIMUN) with great enthusiasm at SAI International School, Bhubaneswar on theme, “Vasudhaiva Kutumbakam – One World, One Family”. This prestigious global forum witnessed the convergence of over 720 delegates from 17 countries, including Syria, Libya, Nepal, Ivory Coast, Sri Lanka, South Sudan, UAE, Malawi, Qatar, Zimbabwe, Thailand, Zambia, Bangladesh, Uganda, Ethiopia, Mozambique, and India.
SAIMUN 2024 is graced by the participation of 21 distinguished schools from around the world, such as St. Andrew Kaggwa Gombe High School and Gombe Junior School from Uganda, and St. Anthony's Girls' College from Sri Lanka. Indian schools including Sanskriti School, New Delhi, Sunbeam Lohartara & Sunbeam Ballia from Varanasi, Daly College, Indore, Shirdi Sai Public School, Sanjivani International School, St. Xavier's Collegiate School, and others from Bhubaneswar and Cuttack also play a vital role in this esteemed event.
Embracing SAI’s ethos of inclusivity, SAIMUN 2024 features Odisha Adarsha Vidyalaya Schools from various districts like Mayurbhanj, Puri, Bolangir, Dhenkanal, Ganjam, Keonjhar, Jajpur, and Angul, actively participating in 10 committees addressing global policies. Additionally, the Shree Harsha Memorial School for deaf and mute children has showcased their talents and perspectives, underscoring SAIMUN’s commitment to including differently-abled persons students in global discourse.
