SAI International School received the District level Swachh Vidyalaya Puraskar 2017 instituted by the Ministry of Human Resource Development (MHRD), Government of India (GOI) on Tuesday, May 22, 2018. The award was received by Shri Harish Sanduja, Principal, SAI International School from the Collector and District Magistrate of Khordha, Shri Nirmal Chandra Mishra, IAS.

SAI ranks among the top schools of the state for its outstanding sanitation and hygiene practice with an average score of 88% and a four-star ranking. The evaluation was conducted on parameters that include Water, Toilet, Handwashing and Soap, Operations and Maintenance, Behavior Change and Capacity Building. It is the only private school of the district to receive the award.

The Swachh Bharat Swachh Vidyalaya (SBSV) initiative was launched in the year 2014 by MHRD to ensure that every school in India has a set of functioning and well maintained water, sanitation and hygiene facilities as well as promote safe and appropriate hygiene practices in schools and behavior among children. The explicit purpose of the awards is to honour schools that have undertaken significant steps towards fulfilling the mandate of the Swachh Vidyalaya Campaign.
