Anushka Singh of Class IX won the Gold Medal in the Firing Competition (Junior Wing Girls) at the All India Thal Sainik Camp (TSC), held in New Delhi from September 16 to 27, 2019. She used the .22 Deluxe Rifle to score 50/50 in Snapping and 40/40 in Grouping.
Class IX student Bishaka Das and Anushka Singh were also part of the eight-member team from NCC Directorate, Odisha to win the Gold Medal in Firing (Junior Wing) for their combined excellent performance. They received the awards from the Deputy Director General National Cadet Corps, (DDGNCC).
The 10-day Camp was participated by around 1500 selected Cadets from 17 NCC Directorates covering all the States and Union Territories of the country. The Cadets learnt about Map Reading, Firing, Obstacle training etc, apart from skilling up their talents in firing. The Thal Sainik Camp gives an exposure to the salient aspects of Army Training, generate competitive spirit and foster sense of discipline, leadership and National Integration amongst participating cadets.
