SAIoneers Engage In Thought-Provoking Deliberations at SMUN 23

Young delegates from SAI International School embarked on their Sanskriti Model United Nations (SMUN 23) journey, from April 27-29, 2023, with a spirited note, one filled with promise, where they engaged in lively and thought-provoking discussions on the preset agendas after attending a grand opening ceremony wherein the keynote speakers, Mr. C. K. Mishra (Former Union Secretary for Environment, Forests and Climate Change) and Mr. Amitabh Kant (Former Secretary- Department of Industrial Policy and Promotion, G20 Sherpa) shared their insights on the global crisis and the significance of Model United Nations. Despite the intensity of the sessions, the students emerged as more self-assured, informed, and prepared for the next day's deliberations. With a renewed sense of purpose and determination, they negotiated on pressing global issues by taking roles of delegates from different countries, fuelled by their passion for diplomacy, critical thinking, and problem-solving. They worked collaboratively to draft resolutions, reaching out for feasible solutions by eventual voting. They also mingled with their peers from other schools, which served as a great opportunity to network, exchange ideas, and make new friends fostering a sense of cultural diversity. 

The students of SAI International School eagerly embraced the opportunity to step outside of their comfort zones and take on new challenges. The conference, came to a close on April 29th, 2023, with the drafting of resolutions and a closing ceremony. The event was a great success, with students from various schools participating in the conference and displaying their knowledge and skills in diplomacy and international relations. The closing ceremony was graced by Vinay Mohan Kwatra, who currently serves as the Foreign Secretary of India who shared his insights on the importance of diplomacy and the role of youth in shaping the future of the world. He praised the efforts of the students in organizing the event and encouraged them to continue their pursuit of knowledge and excellence.

SAIoneer Tarun Tapan Bhuyan from Class X received the Outstanding Journalist Award (UNCA) on April 29, 2023, at Sanskriti Model United Nations conference (SMUN23). This award recognizes exceptional reporting and coverage of the event. Tarun's work was considered outstanding by the judges, who were impressed by his dedication, thoroughness, and writing style. As part of his award-winning coverage, he wrote two articles that were published in "The Impressionist" newsletter. These articles focused on the ideology of the Hindustan Times and provided a reflection of his publication's stance on the agenda of the Congo Crisis.

His work exemplified the highest standards of journalism and showcased his talent and potential as a future journalist. Heartiest Congratulations Tarun ! Keep up the good work.

Overall, the Sanskriti Model United Nations was a great success, providing a platform for students to engage in meaningful dialogue, hone their diplomatic skills, and develop a deeper understanding of global issues. The event will undoubtedly inspire the next generation of leaders and diplomats who will work towards building a better and more peaceful world.
