SAI International School is proud to celebrate a momentous achievement by one of its young students, Dhriti Moksha Panigrahi, a 13-year-old climate and peace advocate from Parlakhemundi, Gajapati district, Odisha, who has been appointed to the prestigious United Nations Youth Group on Nuclear Disarmament.
This appointment comes under the Preparatory Commission for the Comprehensive Nuclear-Test-Ban Treaty Organisation (CTBTO), a global body dedicated to advancing peace, security, and denuclearisation. Moksha’s activism began early and gained momentum when she participated in the world’s largest rural climate strike in 2018. Her efforts earned national attention, and she has since remained a strong voice in environmental advocacy. She is actively involved in the Earth Again Movement and plays a leading role in The Child Movement, mentored by renowned environmentalist Licypriya Kangujam.
As a student of SAI International School, Moksha has consistently demonstrated a deep commitment to sustainable development, climate action, and child rights, participating in international forums, debates, and campaigns that amplify the voices of young people. Her selection to the UN Youth Group is not only a personal achievement but also a symbolic step forward for rural youth in global decision-making spaces. It reflects the rising influence of young changemakers from India in shaping global policies on peace and sustainability.
SAI International applauds Moksha for her outstanding dedication and commitment. Her journey inspires thousands of young minds to believe in the power of youth leadership and action.
Congratulations, Moksha — you are truly Odisha’s and India’s pride.
