SAI OLYMPICS 2015

The sports event of SAI International SAI Olympics was held over a period of three days from December 15-17, 2015. SAI Olympics is organized in alteration with the annual function every second year to showcase the sporting talent of the SAIoneers.

The opening ceremony for the meet was held on December 15 at 9:00 am at the Pele Sports Ground in the school campus. The occasion was graced by Shri Sudam Marandi, Minister of State, Sports & Youth Services and S.T. & S.C. Development (Tribal Welfare) as the Chief Guest and Shri Priyadarshi Mishra, Member of Legislative Assembly, Bhubaneswar North as the Guest of Honour.

The Sports Meet at SAI International School is an event which is much awaited by students and teachers alike. The whole atmosphere today was vibrating with a strong house spirit. The staffrooms, classrooms, hallways and the sports field are all abuzz with the talk of the House athletes, House teams and points to win and lose. All the four houses of the School- Kanishka, Kharavela, Ashoka and Chandragupta are brimming with the competitive spirit for the event.

I am truly happy to be a part of this wonderful occasion said Shri Priyadarshi Mishra. Explaining the students the importance of sports he further added, Sports is the best way to experience working with team and it also helps in developing leadership qualities. One should have sportsmen spirit in order to flourish in any field.

Congratulating the entire school for holding such an event Shri Marandi said, Your venture into sports, into any athletic event that strikes you, should not stop when you get out of school. It should be a daily habit as life goes on for you. He further asked the students to be good human beings and highlighted the role of sports in inculcating some of the vital qualities among the students like team building, discipline and competitive spirit and finally declared SAI Olympics open.

The Chairman of the school, Dr. BK Sahoo, wished all his young SAIoneers luck and advised them to gear up and give their best in the next three days and bring laurel to the school and their family. The highlight of the day was the thrilling horse riding show, put up by the students, which elaborated coordination, balance and stability at such young age.

The Sports event of SAI International School, saw an incredible finale on Thursday, December 17, 2015 at Kalinga Stadium, Bhubaneswar. The event was laced with a mesmerizing cultural performance that brought the gathering cheering and applauding. The SAI Symphony Group took the breath away of the audience present in the stadium with their enthralling performance. The entire atmosphere was brimming with the theme of the SAI Olympics which was URJA – The Spectrum of Energy.

The Chief Guest for the Closing ceremony was Shri Sanjay Kumar Das Burma, Minister of State (Independent Charge), Food Supplies & Consumer Welfare, Employment and Technical Education & Training. While addressing the gathering the Chief Guest congratulated the school for its outstanding achievements in a short span of eight years. He also applauded the management and faculty for their sheer hard work and dedication that was reflecting in the SAI Olympics. Addressing the SAIoneers he said, I am awed with the beautiful performance by you students. All of you are winners and all of you are the leaders of tomorrow.

Chairman Dr. Bijoy Sahoo shared a heartwarming story with the students reflecting the winning spirit. He told the students that all of them should show a positive attitude towards life and aim for the sky and boosted their energy by making them dance on a song composed by Sounds of Isha Foundation. An expression of the boundless joy and exuberance seeped into everybody hearts present across the sports ground. At the end, the SAI Olympics Flag was lowered by the Chief Guest Shri Sanjay Kumar Das Burma and the three day sports meet concluded with a vote of thanks by Trustee Smt. Silpi Sahoo
