SAI International School Hosts Global Round Square Zoom Postcard Conference

by SAI Admin

02 July, 2025

On 2 July 2025, SAI International School hosted the prestigious Round Square Zoom Postcard Conference, connecting 80 student participants and educators from 15 different schools across five countries, including South Africa, UAE, Pakistan, Canada, and India. The theme of the conference was Eco-Anxiety and Student Activism: Harnessing Emotions for a Positive Change, focusing on how students across the globe respond to the growing environmental crisis and how they convert anxiety into meaningful action.

The event was completely student-led, with twelve enthusiastic students from SAI International School managing the session. They began with a series of creative icebreakers that immediately set a lively and interactive tone for the evening. The conference then moved into the Baraza sessions, where students participated in thought-provoking discussions on critical topics such as consumerism versus minimalism, the possibility of being environmentally conscious in a digital world, and the balance between personal ambition and environmental responsibility.

Each Baraza group encouraged students to reflect deeply and share their perspectives. Students expressed strong opinions about the emotional challenges of eco-anxiety, the privileges and responsibilities involved in caring for the planet, and the role of activism in creating real change. Their contributions reflected not only awareness but also a genuine commitment to sustainable practices and mental wellbeing.

Some students proposed ideas like supporting sustainability efforts in schools, reducing personal impact, joining environmental groups, and practising mindfulness. They also stressed the importance of connecting with others, focusing on positive stories of progress, and seeking emotional support when needed. The closing plenary session brought all participants together to share key takeaways, insights, and reflections. Student representatives from each Baraza session highlighted the value of open dialogue and collective action in addressing global issues.

The entire event was a strong display of leadership, collaboration, and empathy. SAI International School continues to support global citizenship and holistic student development through such meaningful platforms. As an active member of the Round Square network, the school remains committed to empowering students to become informed, thoughtful, and responsible global leaders.
