SAI  Career Talk on Common University Entrance Test

by SAI Admin

29 June, 2022

An insightful session of SAI Career Talk was held on Wednesday, June 29, 2022 for Classes XI and XII, of Commerce & Humanities stream of SAI International School, at Indraprastha Auditorium, on an imperative topic: ‘The Only Gateway to Top Colleges and Universities’ by Amitendra Kumar, National Anchor CL-CUET. Common University Entrance Test (CUET) is an all-India examination to be conducted by the National Testing Agency (NTA) for admissions in undergraduate and postgraduate courses in various central & state universities of India including Delhi University (DU), Jawaharlal Nehru University (JNU), Banaras Hindu University (BHU), Allahabad University, Tezpur University, the University of Hyderabad amongst others.

Mr. Amitendra talked about how CUET is designed to evaluate one's understanding of language, knowledge of subjects studied in class XII and general reasoning and quantitative skills. He further discussed with students how CUET is not confined to just central universities anymore, other universities & institutes across India may get substituted under CUET.

One of the most striking answers to "Why CUET is important?" is the equality served to all the central universities. So far, each university has its own set of UG admission processes which may or may not be fair to the reputation of each college. While some colleges had their cut-off system, some took admissions on the basis of entrance exams. Due to this system, some universities gained massive popularity while some were stuck in the backseat. With a common entrance test, such disparities will be shortened and each university will get a fair chance of providing admission to the students. The guest speaker briefed the SAIoneers about this take on ‘Equal Opportunity to Each University’.

The guest speaker also had a one-on-one interaction with the students to further address their doubts and reciprocate to their specific queries.

As a whole, the students had an intriguing session and formed a general idea about the framework of CUET. No doubt, CUET will probably create its own dimensions of a rush but the chaos of cut-off might be over for good. Now, each university will be involved in one common entrance test and will take admissions based on the merit of the CUET in addition to the weightage of the 12th standard marks. It's time student’s aspiration is put to priority and ensure a fair mechanism is given to them for college admissions.
