by SAI Admin

10 July, 2025

On 10 July 2025, the enthusiastic students of Grade IX from SAI International School visited the Odisha State Museum, Bhubaneswar, for an enriching educational field trip designed to help them experience history beyond the classroom.

The visit began with a grand display of traditional Indian martial weapons and intricately carved coin boxes that captured the attention of every student. As they continued their exploration, they walked through corridors lined with life-size sculptures dating back to the 7th century AD. One of the most captivating displays was a series of finely detailed carvings that portrayed daily life in ancient estuarine societies.

Among the highlights was the Chamunda Statue, admired for its powerful muscular detailing, which left a lasting impression on the young visitors. Students were equally thrilled by the 3D biodiversity wall, where lifelike wildlife animations, including scenes from Bhitarkanika, provided interactive and memorable learning moments. The Biodiversity section also featured Odisha's flora and fauna, while the Minerals and Resources gallery displayed a wide array of ores and natural elements in well-organised exhibits.

The journey through Odisha's traditional art forms continued with displays of Pattachitra, a painting style using natural colours, and other regional crafts such as ivory tusk carvings, bamboo baskets, Pipili Chandua, royal jewellery, palanquins, and ornamental items used by the nobility. Each item told a story of craftsmanship, culture, and legacy.

This immersive experience offered students a panoramic view of Odisha’s vibrant heritage. It not only enhanced their understanding of history and culture but also ignited a newfound appreciation for the artistry and resilience of ancient communities.

The field trip to the State Museum was both educational and memorable, allowing students to connect deeply with the roots of their culture.
