SAI International students embarked on an unforgettable journey to the AFS India Member Schools 5th National Meet 2023, hosted by The Emerald Heights International School in Indore from October 23 to October 26, 2023.

Day 1 was a whirlwind of activities and camaraderie. After a 6-hour flight, students engaged in team-building exercises, catching basketballs with bedsheets, playing with tennis balls and buckets, and participating in a unique relay race. The day culminated in a delightful dinner, facilitating connections with fellow students from across the nation.

Day 2 was a cultural extravaganza, featuring mesmerizing dance performances representing diverse Indian traditions. The students were inspired by Ms. Chhavi Rajawat, the pioneering Lady Sarpanch from Rajasthan, who shared her transformative work in Soda Village. Interactive sessions were organized into "barazas" to discuss this year's theme, "Ahimsa," which extends beyond non-violence to encompass everyday actions and sustainable solutions. Keynote speakers, including ex-IAS officer Vivek Atray, emphasized the pursuit of inner peace and happiness over material success as essential components of societal growth. The day ended with a vibrant Ram-Leela act, followed by a dynamic garba show.

Day 3 began with an early morning dance-off and a journey to Mandu, where students explored historical monuments like Baz Bahadur's palace and enjoyed breathtaking scenic vistas. The day concluded with an energetic DJ night, adding a memorable touch to their adventure.

Chairperson, Dr. Silpi Sahoo, highlighted the transformative power of intercultural experiences, saying, "AFS promotes a profound understanding of different cultures, which is vital for our globalized world. It is through such interactions that we develop empathy, respect, and open-mindedness. This event exemplifies the spirit of AFS, bringing people together to create a more just and peaceful world."

She emphasized the lasting impact of such experiences on the students, saying, "This event has not only broadened our students' horizons but has also fostered an appreciation for diversity and unity. The connections formed here are the building blocks of a better future."

As SAI International continues to champion the ideals of AFS Interchange Programs, the students return home with not only cherished memories but also a deeper understanding of the importance of cultural exchange and global unity in today's interconnected world.
