SAI International School Celebrates World Chess Day with Intra-School Chess Tournament

by SAI Admin

12 July, 2025

In celebration of World Chess Day, observed globally on 12 July, the students of the Going Global Club (Classes IX & X) at SAI International School organised an intellectually stimulating Chess Competition, promoting the spirit of strategy, discipline, and mental focus among their peers.

The event, entirely student-led, was not only a celebration of the ancient game but also a purposeful initiative to foster critical thinking, patience, and decision-making skills. The competition comprised three intense and competitive rounds, each marked by thoughtful moves, impressive tactics, and a strong display of sportsmanship. The tournament was efficiently managed by student volunteers and arbiters who ensured its smooth execution. Their enthusiasm and commitment to upholding the spirit of the game played a crucial role in making the event both engaging and memorable.

More than just a game, chess was celebrated as a powerful educational tool, one that enhances cognitive abilities and encourages a global outlook. Through this event, the Going Global Club aimed to raise awareness about the significance of chess as a means of intellectual development and international cultural connection, staying true to its mission of nurturing globally responsible and aware individuals.

The event was a resounding success, leaving both participants and organisers inspired and motivated. It served as a strong reminder that learning extends far beyond textbooks; sometimes, it begins on a chessboard.
