"The art of communication is the language of leadership."- James Humes
On 10 July 2025, the Indraprastha Auditorium at SAI International School buzzed with anticipation as students of Classes XI and XII gathered for the highly anticipated Just A Minute (JAM) competition. An annual event that celebrates spontaneity, clarity of thought, and quick-wittedness, JAM 2025 lived up to every expectation with its vibrant energy and engaging performances.
The competition brought together participants from the four houses: Ashoka, Kharavela, Chandragupta, and Kanishka, for a spirited battle of words and ideas. The session was moderated by Ms. Madhusmita Dash, Head of the English Department, who set the tone with her sharp observations and encouraging presence.
Participants took the stage to speak extemporaneously for one minute on thought-provoking and occasionally quirky topics without repetition, hesitation, or deviation, while navigating constant challenges from rival houses. The game demanded mental agility, linguistic finesse, and the confidence to think on one's feet.
Bursts of laughter, strategic interjections, and applause from a jam-packed audience punctuated the hour-long session. The jury, composed of experienced faculty members, maintained strict adherence to the rules while appreciating the nuance and creativity each participant brought to the mic.
After four intense and entertaining rounds, Ashoka House was declared the Champion, having secured the highest scores through consistent performance. Chandragupta House followed as the Runners-Up, while Kanishka House and Kharavela House took the third and fourth positions, respectively.
Special accolades were awarded to standout speakers:
- Best Speakers:Tarun Tapan Bhuyan and Turiya Banerjee
- Best Challengers:Prathmesh Gaurav and Adyasha Priyadarshini
The JAM competition served not only as a platform for showcasing oratory talent but also as a celebration of confident self-expression, critical thinking, and healthy competition.
At SAI International, events like these continue to encourage students to find their voice, speak their truth, and rise as articulate leaders of tomorrow.
