Renowned Violin Maestro,Dr. Mysore Manjunath and his team performed at SAI International School on Tuesday, July 10, 2018. Dr. Manjunath was accompanied by his young son, violinist Sumanth Manjunath, eminent Mridanga player, Phagun and famous Ghatam player, Shri M. Surya Prasad Rao. Dr. Manjunath is the son and disciple of renowned violinist Prof.Mahadevappa.
Popularly known as Mysore Brothers, Dr. Manjunath has performed across the world including The Prestigious Sydney Opera House- Australia, Royal Albert Hall- London, Common thread Festival in Oregon, SAARC summit, Milano Musica in Italy and many more.
The father-son duo mesmerised the students, teachers and staff with their unique style of violin playing which is a perfect blend of emotive appeal, technical mastery and intellectual sophistication with a strict adherence to the classicism. The immersive violin duet reflected the unflinching passion and dedication of the artists towards music. Dr. Manjunath described the students the meaning and importance of each Raag as he played, gradually taking up the cadence to gel with the mood of the audience.
The performance started with Raag Abhogi which exuded a tone of vibrancy and positivity all around. It was followed by Raag Hamsadwani, an auspicious Raag, considered as the favourite Raag of Lord Ganesha as well as the famous Raag Kapi. The musicians ended the performance with a bhajan, showcasing the extraordinary musical acumen of the world-famous musician.
The event was introduced by The Society for the Promotion of Indian Classical Music And Culture Amongst Youth (SPIC MACAY), a voluntary youth movement which promotes intangible aspects of Indian cultural heritage by promoting Indian classical music, classical dance, folk music, yoga, meditation, crafts and other aspects of Indian culture; it is a movement with chapters in over 300 towns all over the world.
