SECRETARY SCHOOL EDUCATION AND LITERACY GOI ADVISES ENGLISH MEDIUM SCHOOL PRINCIPALS AT SAI

Shri Anil Swarup, IAS, Secretary, School Education and Literacy, MHRD, GOI rendered his valuable advice to the Principals of various English Medium Schools of the State at Sushila Devi auditorium on June 18, 2018. In his address Shri Swarup encouraged the Principals to identify, appreciate and replicate good work as well as make models of them and spread the stories of goodness. He took forward the suggestion of Dr. Bijoy K Sahoo, Chairman, SAI International School and directed the Regional Officer (RO) CBSE to form a core group of few members at an earliest with RO as the Convener and take up issues with practical solution of the same and send it to CBSE Office.

Speaking on the occasion, Shri P.K.Mohapatra, IAS, Principal Secretary, School & Mass Education outlined the various measures taken up by the State Government to address issues related to education and said that “we are bringing in about large scale reforms in the state education system.” He also suggested that all teacher recruitment should be on merit basis and not on mark basis to ensure the quality of education. On the suggestion of Dr. Sahoo for liberating the NOC and the Recognition process for the private schools in the state, Shri Mohapatra stated that he is ready to take the suggestion and implement it for making private schools student friendly and build capacities in making good private schools in the state.

Dr. Sahoo in his address said that ‘Teacher education should be more practical then theoretical’. He congratulated all the Principals for their excellent work and suggested each private English medium school to adopt a nearby less privileged school to improve their learning levels in an attempt to enhance the level of education in the state. On the occasion Ms. Subha Sharma spoke about Kala Bhoomi, the craft museum of Odisha and said that the museum will encourage the young generation to learn about their wonderful history.

The meeting was attended by as many as 250 Principals of various English medium Schools across Odisha to understand the recent changes in the education system and scale up their knowledge to make schools future-ready.
