"A language is not just words; it’s a window to the soul of a civilization."- Anonymous

Language is more than just a means of communication—it is the soul of a culture, the bridge between generations, and the key to understanding our heritage. On January 25, 2025, the students of the Going Global Club (Classes VII-IX) embarked on an enriching journey to the historic Udayagiri Caves near Bhubaneswar, celebrating International Mother Language Day in an unforgettable way.

Surrounded by the grandeur of ancient rock-cut architecture, the students were transported back in time as they explored the inscriptions etched in the Brahmi script. These carvings, including the renowned Hathi Gumpha Inscription, narrate the legacy of Emperor Kharavela, offering a rare glimpse into the linguistic and historical richness of India’s past. Guided by their teachers, the young explorers delved into the significance of these inscriptions, realizing how language has been a powerful tool in preserving history and culture.

This immersive experience deepened their appreciation for their mother tongues, reinforcing the idea that languages are not just words but repositories of tradition, identity, and wisdom. As they traced the inscriptions on the stone walls, they reflected on the beauty of linguistic diversity and the need to safeguard it for future generations.

The visit to Udayagiri was more than a history lesson—it was a celebration of the enduring power of language. It reminded the students that every script, every dialect, and every word carries the essence of a civilization, shaping who we are and where we come from.
