The Class VIII students visited Kala Bhoomi – Odisha Crafts Museum for an enriching educational experience that brought them closer to the state’s artistic and cultural legacy. The visit aimed to help students appreciate the diverse craft traditions of Odisha while encouraging hands-on learning beyond the classroom. During the tour, SAIoneers explored a wide range of traditional art forms, including handlooms, terracotta artefacts, stone and woodwork, and the intricate craftsmanship of Pattachitra, one of Odisha’s most celebrated painting traditions. The museum’s thoughtfully curated galleries offered detailed insights into the evolution, cultural relevance, and regional variations of these art forms.
A highlight of the visit was the live demonstration session, where skilled artisans showcased their expertise, allowing students to observe intricate techniques and creative processes firsthand. These interactions not only deepened their understanding of craftsmanship but also helped them recognise the value of preserving traditional arts in the modern world.
The field trip provided an immersive learning environment that fostered cultural appreciation, artistic sensitivity, and a deeper connection to Odisha’s rich heritage. The experience left the young SAIoneers inspired and proud of the vibrant artistic traditions that define their state.
