SAI International has once again etched its name in the annals of creative excellence, clinching top honours at the 15th Dada Saheb Phalke Film Festival 2024-25. Demonstrating the school’s unwavering commitment to fostering creativity, empathy, and global citizenship, two student-led productions secured prestigious awards in separate categories, standing tall amidst strong national competition.

The documentary Footprints of Change won the Best Documentary (School) award, while the short film Udaan – Rising Above Fear, Flying Towards Hope received the Best Short Film (Jury) award. These recognitions not only showcase the students' cinematic capabilities but also reflect their sensitivity towards impactful storytelling and real-world issues.

Student representative Afiya Noorian, accompanied by her parents, had the privilege of attending the award ceremony held in Delhi. She received the awards on behalf of the school and described the experience as inspiring and humbling. Afiya participated in enriching sessions, including film screenings, masterclasses on short film marketing and revenue generation, and networking opportunities with industry professionals and fellow young filmmakers.

“It was an unforgettable day of learning and creative celebration. Meeting directors and listening to their journeys motivated me to dream bigger and tell stories that matter,” shared Afiya.

Footprints of Change: Youth Across Borders for a Better Tomorrow
Footprints of Change is a short documentary that encapsulates the spirit of global youth collaboration and social responsibility. The film follows the journey of students from three different parts of the world—SAI International School in Bhubaneswar (India), Chosen Hill School in the United Kingdom, and St. Andrew Kaggwa Gombe High School in Uganda.

Through this international partnership, the students engage in meaningful community service initiatives, including education outreach and awareness campaigns. Despite cultural and geographical boundaries, they bond over a unified mission to serve and bring positive change.

The film, with its candid interviews and powerful visuals, underscores a profound message: that today’s youth are already catalysts for transformation, not just future leaders. It is a compelling reminder that when young minds unite across borders, their collective footsteps can leave an indelible impact on the world.

Udaan: A Story of Courage, Friendship, and Hope
Udaan, meaning "flight" in Hindi, is a touching short film that follows the emotional journey of Myna, a spirited girl whose world changes dramatically after being diagnosed with cancer.

Initially overwhelmed by fear and despair, Myna's path to recovery is illuminated by the support of her loyal friends. Their love, laughter, and encouragement become the wings that lift her spirit, helping her navigate one of life’s greatest challenges with resilience and grace.

More than just a narrative about illness, Udaan celebrates the power of friendship, inner strength, and the will to overcome. The film moves viewers with its hopeful message: no matter how dark the night, the dawn always brings the promise of flight.

A Celebration of Creative Voices and Values
The dual victories at the Dada Saheb Phalke Film Festival are a testament to SAI International’s visionary approach to education—one that goes beyond textbooks to nurture creativity, empathy, and leadership.

These achievements highlight the exceptional storytelling skills of its students and their dedication to using art as a medium for advocacy and transformation.

As SAI International continues to empower its learners to explore new dimensions of expression and social responsibility, this recognition serves as both a proud moment and a motivating milestone for the entire school community.
